Apple’s iPhone 16 brought the biggest visual change to the standard iPhone lineup since the iPhone 13, thanks to its refreshed camera layout. Launched in 2024, the phone arrived as the most powerful “vanilla” iPhone at that time. And while the newer iPhone 17 does push things further in terms of camera and display features, the iPhone 16 still holds its ground surprisingly well—especially if you’re getting it at a bargain.
And this week, that bargain is real. During Croma’s Black Friday sale, the iPhone 16 has seen a massive price drop, making it one of the most attractive iPhone deals we’ve seen in months.

iPhone 16: Now Available Under ₹40,000 in Croma’s Black Friday Sale
The iPhone 16, originally priced at ₹79,900, is now listed at ₹66,490 during the Croma Black Friday sale. That’s a flat discount of ₹13,410 right off the top. But you can take the savings even further.
With bank offers, exchange bonuses and discount coupons, the price can drop dramatically. According to Croma’s website, buyers can bring the effective cost down to an unbelievable ₹39,990.
This offer is valid until November 30, making it a limited-time steal for anyone waiting to switch to a newer iPhone.
During our own review, we found the iPhone 16 to be a capable and well-rounded flagship that easily holds up against 2024 and even 2025 Android competitors. If you want a quick summary, here are the top reasons to buy the iPhone 16—and one major reason to skip it.
Reason 1: Impressive Performance
At the heart of the iPhone 16 is Apple’s A18 chipset, which delivers fast and fluid performance across day-to-day tasks. Whether you’re scrolling through social media, switching between multiple apps or doing video editing, the phone rarely slows down.
Even during extended gaming sessions, the iPhone 16 manages heat surprisingly well. It doesn’t get uncomfortably warm and keeps frame rates stable, making it a solid choice for mobile gamers.
Even though it launched last year, the iPhone 16 continues to match or even outperform many newly launched Android flagships, thanks to Apple’s tight hardware-software optimization.
Reason 2: Excellent Camera Experience
For many buyers, the camera is the biggest reason to choose an iPhone—and the iPhone 16 lives up to those expectations.
The device features:
- 48MP main camera
- 12MP ultrawide lens
The main camera offers excellent dynamic range and low-light performance. Whether you’re shooting indoors, during sunset or at a night event, the iPhone 16 can reliably capture crisp, social-media-ready photos. The ultrawide camera is also noticeably better than what most other phones offer in this price bracket.
However, there are a few compromises. You don’t get a telephoto lens on the iPhone 16, meaning zoom performance won’t match the Pro models. Also, the selfie camera on the iPhone 17 is superior, especially because of Apple’s new Center Stage feature that keeps your face perfectly framed during video calls.
Still, for most users, the iPhone 16’s camera system will be more than enough.
Reason 3: Solid Battery Life
One of the biggest improvements Apple has made in recent years is battery performance, and the iPhone 16 continues that trend. The device comes with a 3561mAh battery, which may seem modest compared to massive Android batteries, but it punches above its weight.
In daily use, the phone consistently lasted a full day or more, even with heavy usage that included gaming, video streaming and photography.
The only area where the iPhone 16 falls behind is charging speed. While Android phones now offer 80W, 100W and even 150W fast charging, the iPhone 16 sticks to Apple’s much slower charging tech. If you’re used to plugging your phone in for a quick top-up, this might feel like a downgrade.
Reason to Skip: The 60Hz Display
Now for the biggest drawback—and probably the only dealbreaker for some buyers.
The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch OLED display, which is bright, vibrant and enjoyable for watching videos or browsing content. The problem? It’s stuck at a 60Hz refresh rate, with no support for Apple’s smooth ProMotion technology.
In 2024 and 2025, many budget Android phones offer 90Hz, 120Hz or even 144Hz displays. If you’ve used a high refresh rate screen before, the iPhone 16 may feel noticeably less fluid.
That said, if you’re coming from an older iPhone (iPhone 11, iPhone 12 or earlier), the display will still feel like an upgrade.
