The OnePlus 15R is set to launch in India on December 17, alongside the OnePlus Pad Go 2. As the launch date approaches, OnePlus has started revealing key details about the upcoming smartphone. In its latest announcement, the company has confirmed that the OnePlus 15R will feature a 32-megapixel front camera, marking a major upgrade for the R series lineup.
32MP Selfie Camera With Autofocus and 4K Video Support
According to OnePlus, the 15R will come with the most advanced selfie camera ever introduced on an R Series smartphone. The 32MP front-facing sensor will support autofocus, allowing the camera to automatically adjust focus for sharper and clearer selfies.
In another first for the R series, the OnePlus 15R will also support 4K video recording at 30fps from the front camera. This is a significant improvement over the OnePlus 13R, which features a 16MP selfie camera limited to 1080p video recording.

Previously revealed specifications confirm that the OnePlus 15R will sport a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, matching the panel used on the flagship OnePlus 15. The display is said to deliver a pixel density of 450 PPI and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits, while also supporting ultra-low brightness levels down to 2 nits.
This combination should provide a smooth, vibrant, and comfortable viewing experience across different lighting conditions.
Advanced Camera Features With Detailmax Engine
The OnePlus 15R will also inherit the Detailmax Engine, first introduced with the OnePlus 15. This engine enables three advanced imaging features:
- Ultra Clear Mode
- Clear Burst
- Clear Night Engine
These features are designed to improve clarity, reduce noise, and enhance detail in challenging lighting conditions.
First Smartphone With Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
On the performance front, OnePlus has confirmed that the 15R will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, making it the first smartphone to launch with this processor. The chip has been co-optimised with Qualcomm for better performance and efficiency.
Additional hardware upgrades include the new G2 Wi-Fi chip and a dedicated Touch Response Chip, both aimed at improving connectivity and touch responsiveness, particularly for gaming.
Largest Battery Ever in a OnePlus Phone
The OnePlus 15R will pack a massive 7,400mAh battery, the largest battery ever seen in a OnePlus smartphone in India. Despite the large capacity, the company claims the battery will retain 80 percent of its health even after four years of usage, highlighting long-term durability.
