Samsung Galaxy S26: Samsung’s next-generation flagship lineup — the Galaxy S26 series — appears to be nearing its debut, and new leaks suggest the company may be making a surprising strategic shift. While Samsung is expected to continue its familiar three-device lineup, a fresh report claims the brand has scaled back its planned camera upgrades to keep pricing stable amid rising component costs. This could make the Galaxy S26 one of the most price-focused flagship updates in recent years.

Camera Plans Reportedly Rolled Back to Cut Rising Costs
According to a report by The Elec in South Korea, Samsung has decided to reuse the Galaxy S25’s camera setup for the upcoming S26 lineup. The reason: global material costs have increased significantly, pushing Samsung to prioritise pricing stability over hardware improvements.
This shift reportedly came after Apple maintained the price of its base iPhone 17 model while adding major upgrades like a 120Hz display. Samsung seems to be following a similar cost-control approach.
Expected Galaxy S26 camera setup (unchanged):
- 50MP primary sensor
- 12MP ultra-wide lens
- 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom
- 12MP front camera
With no major hardware improvements expected, Samsung may rely heavily on software-based image tuning, AI enhancements, and the new Exynos 2600 chipset to deliver imaging upgrades.
The change in camera strategy has reportedly caused internal delays in Samsung’s production pipeline.
Galaxy S26 Series Models and Updated Production Timeline
Samsung still plans to launch three models:
- Galaxy S26
- Galaxy S26+
- Galaxy S26 Ultra
The Ultra variant is expected to enter mass production first. The S26 and S26+ models may only shift into mass production in early 2025, which could push Samsung’s traditional January launch event to February 2026.
Even so, some industry insiders claim the launch could happen “within the next few weeks,” depending on Samsung’s final production readiness.
Previous Galaxy S25 pricing for reference:
- Galaxy S25 (128GB): ₹80,999
- Galaxy S25+ (256GB): ₹99,999
- Galaxy S25 Ultra (256GB): ₹1,29,999
If Samsung truly plans to hold pricing steady, the Galaxy S26 prices may be similar to last year’s models.
