Minecraft has rolled out its final update of the year — the ‘Mounts of Mayhem’ drop — now available across Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and Java Edition. While some players tested early features through beta previews, the official release makes the full set of new additions accessible to everyone.

Minecraft ‘Mounts of Mayhem’: Key Features and Additions
The update delivers a full suite of new crafting tiers, weapons, mobs, and riding mechanics, expanding both combat and mount gameplay.
New Spear Weapon
A brand-new spear has been added as a melee weapon. It offers extended reach and can be crafted using:
- Wood
- Stone
- Copper
- Iron
- Gold
- Diamond
- Netherite
Two combat styles are included:
- Jab Attack: A fast, close-range stab
- Charge Attack: A high-damage strike that builds power from speed and momentum — perfect for jousting on horseback
Mounted Combat System
Players can now joust with friends on horseback, using jab or charge attacks for dynamic close-quarters battles. This marks one of Minecraft’s biggest upgrades to mount-based combat.
New Underwater Mount: The Nautilus
One of the most exciting additions is the Nautilus, a new underwater creature inspired by real-world seashell animals. Players can tame and ride the Nautilus, gaining benefits such as:
- Faster underwater movement
- Ability to maneuver more easily than normal swimming
- Preservation of the player’s air supply, enabling longer underwater exploration
More Mobs, More Mounts, More Mayhem
With new mobs, a fresh weapon, underwater mounts, and quality-of-life upgrades for horse lovers, the ‘Mounts of Mayhem’ update adds a strong surge of excitement to Minecraft’s core gameplay loop. Designed to blend mobility with combat, this final drop of the year levels up exploration both on land and underwater.
